The central Anatolian region of Sivas, is inhabitated by Turkish and Kurdish people. Kurdish weaving continues in Sivas only on a small scale though the Kurds well known sense of originally and vital expression has remained intact in todays weavings.The designs of this large repeat medallion kilim feature oblong central medallions, with many varied smaller filler motifs such as stars or ' wolf tracks' often surrounded by a leaf or vine pattern. Colours in sivas kilims are a lighter hue than other Kurdish weavings, particularly noticeable in the lustrous reds, softer greens, orange and yellow.Occassionally white cotton is used to highlight designs .The wool is lustrous and finely spun and the colors are always beautiful and clear.
